Tiffany Garside is the Head of International Sustainability at Magic Bus, an Indian charity that works with children and youth living in urban and rural poverty. Tiffany will be joining Recrear.beta to give a lecture on the social business model of Magic Bus. Moreover, she will join us for a workshop on creating financially sustainable projects to give us insights on Magic Bus’s creative financial management and fundraising strategies.

Jocelyn Ruiz is a world traveler and a newborn social entrepreneur currently channeling her skills into building ideas with social value. Currently, Jocelyn is back in Mexico and started a business unit on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within AvantGarde, a Consultant Company. Certified by the Mexican Center for CSR as a consultant in Corporate Social Responsibility, Jocelyn will be coming to  Recrear.beta to give an introduction to the field and ISO 26000. She will be focusing on how to develop profitable CSR projects.

Tom Gilb is senior partner of Result Planning Limited. He is the author of nine published books, the latest ‘Competitive Engineering’ (2005).  Recrear.beta’s participants will be able to benefit from Tom‘s vast consulting experience. He will organize a workshop aimed to teach the participants techniques for successful project management and strategy planning. Tom will advise and support Recrear.beta’s work by encouraging the participants to think critically about their work, develop efficiency and increase competitiveness.

Toby Storie-Pugh is the founder of Flying Kites an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to improving the standards of care and education available to poor children. Toby will be coming from Kenya to attend Recrear.beta. His insights will be of crucial importance to Recrear.beta’s goal to train participants in NGO development and intercultural communication. The participants of Recrear.beta will be able to gain deeper insight on the challenges of starting and operating an organization in Africa. Moreover, Toby will share his experience and provide advice on how to face the challenges to work in harmony with local communities in the developing world.

Based in London, 2Architekten is a group of young creative minds devoted to connect style with applicability. They supported the organizing Team of Recrear.beta in drafting an image and design strategy for Recrear.

Barbara Mei Chun Müller from Career Culture has advised and con- sulted the Recrear.beta Organizing Team in developing a marketing strategy.

Hotel4Youth stands for comfort, functionality, modern design, fair prices and a relaxed atmosphere. Recrear.beta will be hosted in Hotel 4 Youth's brand new facility at Mauerpark, Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.

Philipp Gloeckler is founder and CEO of Avocado Store – the Marketplace for green products. Being live for less than 5 months, Avocado Store already holds more than 80 retailers and 200 brands. Before founding Avocado Store with the help of Stephan Uhrenbacher, Philipp organized the first Carrotmob in Germany and founded the eco fashion label So Pure. In 2009, he was announced as one of the 33 most important Green Germans by the NEON magazine and was nominated for the Clean Tech Media Award 2009, Category Culture and Media. Bernd Senf, born in 1944, was Professor for Marco-economics at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Since his retirement in April 2009, Professor Senf continued to work independently. In his lectures, seminars and workshops, Professor Senf is devoted to make economic and social relations understandable to the general public. He will join Recrear.beta to give a seminar on the role of the monetary system and interest in the current financial crises.

Mark C. Donfried is the Director and Founder of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, an international, not-for profit, non-governmental organization, established to promote global peace and stability through strengthening and supporting intercultural relations at all levels. At Recrear.beta, Mark will give a workshop on Cultural Diversity, covering intercultural communication training to cross cultural management.

Founded in 1993, the German Fundraising Association is a professional association representing and serving the needs of fundraisers throughout Germany.  With currently 1350 members it is the second largest professional association for fundraisers in Europe.

The primary goals of the Association are to support professional development of fundraisers and maintaining ethical standards for fundraising in Germany.

Thomas Kurmann has been active for NGOs in leading Fundraising and Communication positions for more than 10 years. Currently he is acting as Director of Fundraising for Médecins Sans Frontières (Ärzte ohne Grenzen) in Germany. Kurmann is member of the Board of Swissfundraising. His expertise is in the areas of strategic Fundraising, Online Fundraising and Direct Marketing.

Professor Dr. Dirk Löhr

Dirk Löhr is a Professor of Taxation and Ecological Economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier (Environmental-Campus Birkenfeld), Germany, and Associate Professor at Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany.  His career has included work as a consultant for the German Technical Cooperation in Cambodia, as financial manager in an international hotel group and for the Deutsche Bahn AG. Löhr is the president of the Sozialwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft 1950 e.V. His work was widely published on taxation, land use issues, and environmental economics.

 

Around the world, land distribution is extremely unequal; Löhr's seminar points out that, despite huge differences in institutions and governance, unsustainable land use policy have some common patterns. Löhr will also discuss how, In order to achieve a more sustainable land use policy, political institutions as well as the economic frameworks have to be reconsidered.

Inga Winkler is a researcher at the German Institute for Human Rights. As such, her focus is on water and sanitation rights and she supports the UN Human Rights Council’s established mandate regarding the obligation to safe drinking water and proper sanitation. At Recrear.beta, Inga will be giving a presentation on economic, social and cultural rights as part of international human rights law, first introducing these themes at a theoretical level and looking more specifically at how the issue of human rights should affect international development projects.

Ines Robbers is project leader of creare!, a training program at the Freie Universität Berlin which inspires people to think and act more entrepreneurial. She is currently writing her PhD on pedagogical professionalism of the entrepreneurship educator. At Recrear.beta Ines will give a workshop on user generated innovation and entrepreneurial project management.

Lisa Jaspers works in the marketing and fundraising department of Oxfam Germany, an international, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working worldwide to fight poverty and injustice. At Recrear.beta Lisa will give a workshop on the opportunities of online marketing and fundraising in the field of international development.

Peter Tinnemann, physician and health researcher at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin with a particular interest in social medicine, access to health and care in a public world. He holds a Master in Public Health from Cambridge University and has more than 10 years work experiences with various international humanitarian aid organisations. At Recrear.beta, Peter will talk about working in civil society organisations in a globalised world.

Yasmin Rabiyan works as a Comunications Advisor for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Berlin, Germany. As an international humanitarian organization, MSF delivers medical emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters or exclusion from health care in more than 60 countries around the world. At Recrear.beta, Yasmin is going to talk about the Why's and How's as well as the challenges connected to communications for an international NGO like MSF.

Stephan Kreischer is a Senior Policy Advisor and the organization representative in Berlin for Development Policy for Welthungerhilfe. He is in charge of relations with the German parliament, government, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations based in Berlin. Welthungerhilfe provides help from one set of hands: from immediate emergency aid in the wake of a disaster to long-term projects carried out in cooperation with local partners. For Welthungerhilfe, overcoming hunger goes hand in hand with overcoming poverty.

Mareen Buschmann works as a Policy Officer for the Association of German Development NGOs (VENRO) and the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) Germany (“Your voice against Poverty”). “Your voice against Poverty” is a joint campaign from VENRO, the musician Herbert Grönemeyer and PR and media expert partners, established to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). At Recrear.beta, Mareen will give a presentation on the MDGs and GCAP Germany’s work to strengthen German public support for the eradication of poverty and global health.

Stan Cutzach is Governance Manager at the International Secretariat of Transparency International (TI), a global NGO founded in 1993 in Berlin, nowadays National Chapters in some 100 countries worldwide all working against corruption and towards good governance. He deals with the internal governance of TI as a global structure, facilitating internal policy development and ensuring compliance. At Recrear.beta, Stan will present fundamental principles of good governance for NGOs and discuss the challenges of putting these into practice.
